Thanks for the comment, yes you're right, it does need to be made very strong. The photo shows that with some modification that it will fit and can be mounted. Over 12 hours have subsequently been spent refining the position and making strong supports for the column. It's all seam welded, gusseted and reinforced. The modifications have all been made box section so that it's reinforced with strength in mind.

The reasons for doing this job on the chassis now was the reinforcement gussets are tied into the underside of the scuttle so there was no point painting that until all the welding related to the EPAS was sorted. I was not going to run the rearward mounting plate on the EPAS, but may reconsider this. Already have a control box for adjusting the assistance. It'll need to be factored into the loom wiring.

Hi there, I am also in the process of mounting the same colum to a Vectra.
I will say I think I would mount yours more securely and make a proper bracket. Plus you have the unit upside down, which shouldn't make a difference to its operation but
you will not be able to use the rear mount and you will have to remove if yo have any torque sensor issues (which you are likely too). Also it may damage the sensor mount if it it butted up against the mount you have in the picture.

I cannot stress enough how important this needs mounting especially in a rally/race car.
Hope it goes well, I purchased the speed sensor unit which enables it the torque to be altered which you may want to consider.

Hope all goes well

Four bolts hold the gearbox to the block. Three run from the gearbox side and one goes from the block to the box. All are big Torx head bolts.

Moved over here nearly 3 years ago now after 4 years in Norway. Still working for Statoil, but working exploration off the East Coast of Canada (based in Calgary).

Regarding the wheels I 'read' (i know i shouldnt beleive everything i read) that the heat involved in powder coating is bad for alloys? the place i took mine to is the place that all of the main dealers get wheels re-finished at so I hoped they knew what they were going. Like I said the paint looks great but its soft as I think it was a more traditional spray low level oven bake job, not powder coat.

Landy wise is a disco 3 (so im on Disko 3.co.uk quite a bit)whos main duties are shuttling and road/ski trips, we had a cooper S for city duty which we sold this summer to get a 2012 GTI which I am more than happy with.

Bike wise yep still getting out as much as i can although i have moved more towards to gravity side of things. I now mainly shuttle / bike park with a Yeti 303 25th WC, Intense Slopestyle and a Cotic Be Fe for XC and cyclocross duties. Riding out here is amazing and the skill level of the average Joe is pretty high compared to the UK.

We have another 2 years on the contract out here so plenty more riding and skiing to do......
