Didn’t have much time to work on the car this weekend, but did get the steel wheels cleaned up so I can see what state they’re in.

The initial prospects didn’t look great, rusty wheels, covered in mud and filth (and copper grease).

I’d heard great things about people using Cillit Bang to clean wheels and didn’t have any so used a bit of Cif Multipurpose Actifizz.

They came up a treat with a bit of scrubbing with various nylon brushes. Took a little wire wool to the wheel with overspray to clean most of that off. They need a lot more work but this isn’t a bad start.

The tyres are Chinese Austone CSR43s. Austone are part of China’s 3rd largest tyre manufacturer Chengshan. My money is on the fact that they’ll be a bit rubbish.
