Chopped another 10kg out of the interior of the Rallye. Still more to come, but it’s going to need that spot weld drill to shed more weight in the form of steel brackets. A few challenges are to come in terms of sorting the plumbing and wiring for the relocated water bottle and fitting the AX wiper mechanism. I also need to progress with cutting back some of the redundant loom components. The following electrical elements are no longer needed:

  • Door looms – electrics for speakers, central locking, electric mirrors and electric windows, door sensors for the interior light.
  • Front roof loom – electrics for interior light, central locking IR sensor, navigator light.
  • Centre tunnel – electric window controls, seatbelt pretensioner system, possibly the handbrake warning light.
  • Rear loom – boot light and sensor, rear speaker cabling, rear windscreen motor.
  • Immobiliser/Alarm Loom – this is the standard loom wiring. I’ve had an after market immobiliser fitted instead.
