Clear Coat

Laid down the first top coat layer five days ago – it seems ages to have reached this far, but it’s looking good. Just needed several more layers of paint to finish it off.

With the clear coat is on, there was a definite sense of Whoop! Whoop! Well I felt like doing a few whoop whoops after getting a bit of a whiff from the lacquer solvents.

Some rather nice OMP side mounts have arrived. I’ve gone for some of the alloy ones rather than the steel Sparco ones I had before. The weight saving isn’t huge and I will be modding them to fit the seat rails in the shell and to remove some of the excess material associated with the height adjustment. Should start getting the interior back together in a week when the lacquer has hardened. The bonnet is off. I’ve removed it so that I repaint the strut tops and the ends of the scuttle that didn’t get done last time when I was doing the single wiper conversion.
