Injectors Refurbed

After giving some thought to the misfire problem. It occured to me that the car had been run on a very low tank of fuel just prior to the problems starting. In a bid to try and eliminate another possible source of the problems I had the fuel injectors sent off for ultrasonic cleaning.

 Fuel injectors

I explained in advance to John Hughes the issues and he fed back with the following:

 Fuel injectors

On initial receipt, I have had a look at the injectors and there is some visable muck in one of them but two of them have like a black film (like a moist carbon build up if that makes sense) on them which I haven’t seen before but they should clean up great.

On cleaning, there was alot of dirt in the injectors but what is weird is once the carbon type deposit was removed from the two injectors they were a blue colour which indicates to me that they have been exposed to some serious heat at some time.

The only thing I can think that would cause the carbon type build up and the blueing on the end is that the engine has been mis-timed and you have burnt your inlet valves away thus allowing heat to reach the injectors although it is usually exhaust valves that burn first. But that is just a theory. I hope it is just the injectors that were blocked for your sake.

The oily desposits correlate to the same gung on the plugs in cylinders 1 & 4. So the injectors go back in tomorrow, but it could just be the start of the fun…
