Well it’s so cold at the moment that the bucket of water that was in the garage last night froze… Not really a good time to be trying to get stuff done. Still over the last couple of weeks I have polished up the alternator to a mirror like finish and started painting the steel mounting brackets for it which are now etch primed with POR-15. I’m waiting for a tap and die set to arrive and I can cut some additional threads onto the special adjuster bolt. Then I need to order a set of nuts, blts and washers before it can all be bolted back together.
After that I need to get the exhaust manifold off, wrap it and refit it using some proper brass nuts. While it’s off I’m going to replace the Mocal air/oil cooler with a Laminova water/oil cooler because it;’s running too cold at the moment due to the coller being too effective. The Laminova will help get the car up to temprature more quickly too. So I’ll be dropping the coolant and oil, whch means I can take the radiator out to make access to the manifold easier. While all that is off I am going to fabricate up an alloy heat shield from some plate alloy for the two sensors and wires that had been toasted previously by the radiant exhaust heat. Finally while it’s all in bits it’s probably worth getting the slam panel resprayed.
