Marc Boni and Alex Robinson from the Rallye Register organised a group buy on some Hi Specs brakes. Marc’s an engineer and has worked hard to develop a brake kit to fit under small wheels. They fit under raptors and 14″ rallye steelies as well as some 13″ alloys.
The Ultralite 4 pot calipers, custom mounting brackets and 260mm x 22mm Vented Discs offer a significant upgrade in performance without having too much of a weight penalty. In fact I’m hoping that there is a weight reduction to be had.
The guys over at the Seat Cupra site have done a basic guide to fitting, but Marc also includes a comprehensive guide with the brakes. Just waiting for some Mintex pads to arrive and a trial fitting can be done.
Note: Previously I was going to paint the original callipers. There is a guide to this here, although this one seems a better approach. Basically the message is do it properly or do it at least twice and don’t use Hammerite. Foliatec seems to be getting best positive feedback as the paint to use.
