Progress

So some significant progress over the weekend after 12 hours of further welding, grinding and prep work. Whole of the O/S inner wing and chassis rail is now in a POR15 base coat, it makes such a difference to the appearance and it’s really lifted my spirits over the project.

I’ve also modified by strut tops. I already had the Peugeot Sport France pattern 5mm strut top reinforcement plates welded on, but I have now modified these so I can run the struts in either PAS or non PAS alignment (just needed one of the mounting holes lengthening as it did not match up to the standard strut top drilled pattern below). I’ve then enlarged the holes in the centre to a custom shape that allows the camber adjustment bolts to be adjusted without having to drop the strut. I believe a fellow member from the club has also done some secret changes to give a similar setup, so I will be interested to compare pics in the long run to see his approach. The PAS position gives 2.25 degrees more castor and gives the front tyres a better contact patch during cornering, still there’s always the option now to swap between setups.

Big order of bits on the way from Frost for the next stage of works. Will post up some pics if I get a chance. Next jobs are to fabricate a pair of outer wing and bumper mounts to replace the stock items that were on the car. I also need to decide how I am going to re-secure the coolant hose mounts to the O/S chassis rail. I have some plans for both 😉
