Dropped the back box off (snapping the bolts on the clamping brackets in the process) and set to work cleaning up the brake pipes and unions. Over the last few days I’ve dosed it a few times in penetrating spray and have two out of the four brake unions loose and both the bolts that hold the compensator to the beam. The two unions that won’t come undone are the rear two which have narrower spanner flats than the others, so the brake union spanner doesn’t get so much purchase on them. Left them soaking a bit more, will try them again when the new parts arrive.
