Had the 8v out for a clean today and it was left out while I reorganised some of the garage interior. Unfortunately it rained and when I went to bring the car back in I found the interior a bit wet. The source was the aerial on the roof which would explain why the interior light was not fitted and all rusted up. Due to the water ingress the bolt and nut securing the aerial had all rusted up and sheared off from the torque of being undone. Brilliant.
Well finally found some time to do some work on the car. Fitted the aerial, a washer bottle cap and the steelies and took it out for a drive. Came back a couple of days later to find the N/S rear tyre flat…
Pumped it up to 32 PSI and checked it the next morning and it had lost 10 PSI. Yesterday I had to pop down to Northampton so whipped the steelie off and whizzed it into the local ATS tyre fitters for them to look at. Phone call and hour or so later to say the back bead was leaking so they had fitted some sealant which had cured it, but that I shouldn’t drive on it for 24 hours. Fixed for no cost.

So headed off with the the alloys I am selling fitted to the back axle, hate the look but it was a means to an end. Car drives really well, engine pulls fantastically and there are no mechanical issues which is a huge relief – it means I can just enjoy driving this car!
Both door seals are shot and need replacing. The wind noise in the cabin above 65mph was mental on the motorway, particularly from the passenger side door. So that is another job to add to the to do list. I drowned out the noise by turning the volume up. My Sony DSX-S300BTX head unit is very cool – bluetooth streaming from the iPhone4 is great.
Out in the car this weekend so will get the steelies back on the rear tonight.
