Update

The offside bumper mounting bracket turned up in the week so today I fitted it.

Top tip here was to keep the old bracket and use it to get the spot welds in the right place. I put masking tape on the new part, chopped the old bracket so I could over lay it and then marked up the masking tape using a pencil through the old bracket where I’d drilled it off. Simply then used a die grinder to take off the primer on the new part through the tape and then once I’d prepped the car mounting points back to bare metal clamped it and welded it on. Everything is under a coat of primer now so top coat time tomorrow.

I popped round to see Simon182 on Saturday to see his new MG rally car that he was prepping for a sprint. I had the full lockset off his quiksilver so that’ll be a job to do soon. Bit of a unique selling point on 106s in my experience to have a full car that works on one key and to have two keys – they even have LEDs in them!

I also picked up a full set of under car heat shields for the 16v shell off the same car:
