New Rims

Managed to get hold of a few bits to start moving this forwards. As background the previous owner sold it to a mate recalling that at the point he sold it, the car was mint. His mate ran it (clearly into the ground) then offered to sell it back to him. He agreed, but when he saw it he said he almost cried. I think he intended to do it up, but just knew he was not going to get it done.

Recently I acquired two sets of wheels – a set of S1 Steelies with stretched and completely knackered Chinese tyres (WTF) which were a fair price for 5 wheels but a decent price once 4 centre caps and a full set of wheel bolts were in the mix too. Also picked up a set of S2 Steelies with a set of Dunlop DZ03Gs with plenty of life left in them. I have bunged the S1s on for now but may pass these on. Car looks better.

The sharp eyed may have noticed the cosmetic addition of a bandage to the passenger wing mirror in the original photo.

I had wondered if the previous owner was something of a Mark Knopfler fan, but alas I think it was serving a more fundamental purpose. Yes, we have structural electricians tape. Good thing I have managed to get a spare wing mirror.

A Quicksilver down south in a worse state than this car was being broken for parts which meant I managed to get this to sort out the drivers side wing. Once I’d cleaned off 15 years of road tar and crap, its not looking too bad.

Almost a full compliment of mounting points was a bonus. Some may have been damaged in transit but are bonded back on now so I’ll need to get that fitted.

Exhaust is blowing because one of the hangers came off the back box and ripped a hole in it. I’m on the look out for a manifold back system but not in a rush. The car has stance issues which mean a beam refurb is definitely in order:

Beyond the lefty inclination of the entire french wonder the passenger side rear is showing some spectacular toe alignment.
