To make it easier to do the work to replace the sill on the series 1 Rallye, I wanted to make a new chassis dollie to raise it up to a good working height, to bolt on to the suspension mounts and to have long-term value as a means of moving cars in the garage. This was the concept design created in Sketchup.

The design being that the uprights can be unbolted to allow the car to be put on skates like this:

Ordered some metal stock and castors and a new chop saw to speed things up. A whole load of nuts and bolts were organised too.

I had some 6mm plate laser cut for the wheel platforms, but the steel box section was square cut with the Evolution Rage saw which definitely helped put it together.

Made up front and rear pairs…

Then it was time to think about how to mount the joining bars to hold it altogether.

Rear beam mounting points utilised the inner bushes cut out of some old rear beam mounts.

Wishbone mount pickups bolted on

Finished dollie with the car on it.
