Back on the Road

Balance bar arrived for the crane plus some 1 tonne dee shackles. Just need to organise a few more bits and pieces for taking the engine in and out. As well as the usual hub nuts, engine oil, filter, box oil, coolant and drain/level plug washers, I need to consider a pair of new driveshaft... Continue Reading →

Latest Purchase

I'd been keeping an eye on eBay for a while looking for an engine crane and this came up local to me. It's only had one previous owner who bought it years ago and then never used it. So pretty much brand new with just a few signs of aging. Just the thing for getting... Continue Reading →

Mallory Videos Up

My first track day and it was a really good experience. I think Mallory is a great circuit to learn on because it's short and simple. Only had one minor scare when going into Gerards and I had to hit the brakes a lot harder than expected to let a CRX in that was alongside... Continue Reading →

Rallye Trackday

Had an ace day at the Practical Performance Car Show and the track session was a good bit of fun. Great to put a few faces to names from the 106 Rallye Register and see some of the cars in the metal. We had the largest owners' club stand as far as I could make... Continue Reading →

Rallye in the Park

Off to Mallory Park this weekend for the Practical Performance Car Rally in the Park event. Seems like I'll have the only White S2 on the 106 Rallye Register stand and will be there along with a lot of the rest of the gang. If I'm not on the stand, then there's a good chance... Continue Reading →

Back on the Road

Dropped the oil, removed the oil cooler, filled it up again with Silkolene Pro S. Fitted the new fan and wired it in. Refitted the bumper and it's back on the road. Took it out for a blast today and came home to find out it had thrown the alternator belt. I'll need to fit... Continue Reading →

Update

So the brief intermission has lasted longer than expected as I managed to destroy my Dremel. It stopped working unless you hit it and then the motor started making an electrical burning smell complete with smoke. It was still going round but at erratic speeds and I didn't fancy electocuting myself or having it catch... Continue Reading →

Detour

So the initial plan was to put the car all back together for the weekend, but then things panned out in a different direction which bought me some more time. I've used it to take the slam panel off and I'm midway through repainting it now having POR15'd any areas that were showing rust. In... Continue Reading →

Update

All the parts I'd been waiting for turned up yesterday, so last night started taking the car apart (even more). It's already sitting on axle stands with no front wheels or arch liners, but fairly quickly it had no front bumper and shortly afterwards no radiator or coolant pipes. Getting the exhaust manifold off didn't... Continue Reading →

Parts Arrival

Part arrival of parts. Waiting for a few more bits and pieces to come in the post and then the Rallye will be back on the road. Pads turned up for the HiSpec callipers, I'll try some M1144s for the road and look at getting some M1166s for track. Pads are much cheaper in this... Continue Reading →

Bigger Brakes

Marc Boni and Alex Robinson from the Rallye Register organised a group buy on some Hi Specs brakes. Marc's an engineer and has worked hard to develop a brake kit to fit under small wheels. They fit under raptors and 14" rallye steelies as well as some 13" alloys. The Ultralite 4 pot calipers, custom... Continue Reading →
