Broom Broom

These turned up in the post today... Suzuki GSXR 1000 K2 Independent Throttle Bodies (48mm tapering to 42mm). These will form part of a long term strategy for the engine development. There are some notes and threads on t'Internet about converting motorbike ITBs for car use. I'm planning on a Colin Satchell inlet manifold, Sandy... Continue Reading →

Flocked

Headed over to near Mold last night to pick up the dashboard that I'd dropped off for flocking with Autoflock. Top job done, although this muppet forgotten to pickup the steering column surround, so now I need to arrange getting that posted.

Safety Devices

When I was working out which roll cage to go for one of the key considerations was weight. OMP do a 19Kg Chromoly Steel cage that has to be welded in. This cage is homologated to German ONS spec, but hasn't been approved by the RAC/MSA for UK use. I thought about this option a... Continue Reading →

Progress Report

A set of fixed window seals have arrived for the Rallye rear quarter windows. I picked these up for a bargain price from another owner on the Rallye Register and have been looking out for a set for a while. I'm going to polycarb the side windows and the rear quarters are currently the opening... Continue Reading →

Update

After months of looking I've managed to source a much sought after Safety Devices 106 Cup Cage and a full set of Schroth manufactured Safety Devices 6 Point Harnesses. Along with these there's a pair of Sparco Rev side mounted bucket seats, so pretty much all the parts I need to kit out the interior... Continue Reading →

Bits of Carbon

Had a little bit of time to fit some blanks in the dashboard. Ended up just drilling and tapping the dashboard plastics to attach them and using cardboard templates to get the positions right. I decided that it was going to irritate me having different weave patterns on these pieces and the door cards, so... Continue Reading →

New Plans

Massive tidy up in the garage at the weekend and now a bit better prepared for doing some more work on the car. The Rallye has just be taxed again and I now have just over six months to get to grips with the bodywork and welding as I'm fairly sure it's not going to... Continue Reading →

Spigots

To fit the Ford fitment OZ alloys to the Peugeot 106 you need reducer wheel spigots. Failing to do this means the wheel wont sit evenly (read centrally) on the hub and will induce bearing destroying vibration at speed. The centre bore on 106s is 65.1mm diameter. After a bit of research via Google I... Continue Reading →

New Kit

Ordered a replacement steering wheel and boss from Demon Tweeks. Nice Sparco 345 Suede wheel and Momo adaptor boss. The dish means it's harder to reach the indicator stalks. It's about 5cm smaller in diameter than the standard Peugeot item.

A Few Upgrades

I mentioned recently that I was intent on doing a few things to the car. The first of these was change the washer jets to some mist type washers. This was a necessity as the standard washers were only half working i.e. one out of the two jets on both sides of the car. The... Continue Reading →

OZ Racing Wheels

New wheels have arrived. I've wanted a set of these for a long time as they're some of the lightest alloy wheels that you can get, saving 3kg per corner over the Chronos that are on the car at the moment - even with the bigger 50 profile Toyo R888s. Not that they'll fit on... Continue Reading →

2009 Ahead

No progress to report, but this is because it's been sub zero outside since the middle of December and even wearing thermals, old snowboarding kit and lying on a futon mattress it's too cold to be working under the car, so things haven't progressed as planned on the bodywork. I still have several little jobs... Continue Reading →
