Sorted out the exhaust rattle and blowing. One of the centre section joints had become quite loose. Tightened it up and it immediately solved the issue. Used some of the alloy plate and cut and formed it into a heat shield on the rear bumper where the tailpipes are. A past exhaust had melted a... Continue Reading →
Back on the Road
Car all put back together on Friday. I didn't finish until the early hours due to some complications. Two of the bumper mounting brackets had bolts seized in them, the bolts came out eventually, but destroyed the fittings in the process. I had some of the right kind of things, but they had to be... Fill. Sand. Fill. Sand.
Progressing slowly on the body work. I'm trying to get a good finish so it's taking a little while. Mostly working on the OS front wheel arch, but the NS has needed a little attention too. Touching up the front bumper too where there were some scrapes and stone chips. Elsewhere, I've fabricated a new... Continue Reading →
Ramps
I struggled yesterday with the trolley jack. Today at lunch time I thought about how I was going to get the car onto axle stands, I ended looking at low profile trolley jacks. The prospect of having to fork out more money for something I didn't really need seemed crazy. The JCB trolley I have... Continue Reading →
Inspection Follow Up
As I had the drill out I used it to removed the aluminium tat from the two footwell mats. They were Ripspeed ones with an aluminium checkerplate to prevent heel wear as well as two small aluminium logo badges all rivited on. They came off and with a bit of effort with a scrubbing brush... Sparco Pedals Fitted
Tonight's first task was to fit the pedals. The setup in the car was previously this: I'd looked at this yesterday, measured up to get the 50mm pedal spacing and marked out potential holes for drilling with red enamel. It was clear that the shape of the accelerator pedal wasn't going to work, so it... Continue Reading →
First Inspection
First real look at and fiddle with a few things. First job I thought to look at was the front towing eye and the rear which are both showing signs of rust. The rear isn't so noticeable, but the front is quite apparent and needs some work to tidy it up. The rust has spread... Continue Reading →
Series 2
A few years ago I bought a small car and loved owning it. A Peugeot 106 Rallye S1. 1300cc, 8v engine putting out 100 bhp - probably a little more with a full peugeot sport exhaust system and an induction kit. Now this engine output might not seem much these days because many modern cars... Continue Reading →

Inherited Specification
The following is the spec on the car at the time I bought it. The previous owner only took on the car in March 2008 and it was his second S2, having previously had another Bianca White one. At that point it was a standard 8v Rallye from a guy who had it 5 years.... Continue Reading →
