Stop and Start Again
Handbrake Reinforcement: Trying to repair the mess on the parts of the tunnel I mentioned last time just left me chasing holes in the affected sections. So despite getting it looking pretty good, it was full of thin metal sections and pin holes. The underside told the true story - things were not good. Only... Continue Reading →
Hmmm
The problem with working on the exhaust tunnel is that you need to be able to get to both sides of it and the underside is a pain to work on. It would make sense to have a facility to be able to turn the car on its side but that's not an option. So... Continue Reading →
Bay in Primer
After a lot of hours I have the majority of the engine bay in POR15 primer. I've left the lowest sections of the bay in a rough state because there still some work to do to bring the shell back to bare metal and treat it properly with POR15. The next job will be to... Continue Reading →
Progress in the Bay
After a bit of a pause in which not much happened on either car, some nice bits have arrived for the 16v which means that I can press on and get some bits finished off. I have to think ahead on a lot of different levels about how things will fit together and work once... Continue Reading →
EPAS Update…
Things have run into a snag on the EPAS. The background here is that I am putting a Vauxhall Corsa electric power steering (EPAS) unit into my Peugeot 106. The connection between the end of the EPAS and the pinion on the rack is tight for space (about 5"). I have tested things out by... Continue Reading →
OMP Wheel Detailing
White on clear TZ tapes came through for the Brother label writer so I was able to have a play around with some of the settings tonight to do some labels for the carbon panel. Worked out okay in the end.
Few Things
The other little thing I have been working on is the bypass for the heater matrix coolant pipes. Prior to deciding to take out the heater setup I had bought a set of the Baker BM silicone hoses but they were now surplus to requirements with the new heater less setup. So they've been chopped... OMP Superquadro
This is one of the projects I mentioned. I am not going to run the steering wheel stalks and I will need to be able to control the Race Technologies Dash2 so I have gone down the route of a steering wheel mounted button panel. Mocked it up in cardboard: Gave the design some thought... Continue Reading →
EPAS Update
I haven't been sitting idle recently, I've just not had a lot of time for getting on with the chassis. New wire for the welder turned up end of last week after a bit of a wait (I am fussy about what I use): With it I was able to finish off the reinforcement of... Continue Reading →
8v Update
Been doing some work on this car recently. I need to take some more photos, but one of the jobs was a refurb on the cam cover. Went for a gloss finish in POR15. Added on a new oil filler cap, oil dip stick (as the old one did not plug into the top of... Continue Reading →
8v Update
Well I haven't posted much on the 8v recently, but it's getting daily use during the week as the Nursery wagon. There are a few things that now need a little attention. I stuck a new rear wiper blade on a few weeks ago as the one that was on the car may well have... Continue Reading →
