Managed to get hold of a new coilpack from a chap in Bungay for a bargain price. I've fitted it to see if it cures the hesitation that seems to affect the car between 2-3000 rpm. Having spoken to some other 16v owners this can be symptomatic of the coilpack braking down.
Some Progress
After an extended pause, some work has finally be accomplished on the car. New poly exhaust mounts have arrived and been fitted. In a bid to try and motivate myself into some action, I applied the new Peugeot 106 Rallye decals to the back of the car. None of this is particularly exciting - the... Continue Reading →

It's Back
Rallye is back. All the work needed is done, but it feels like an anticlimax. One of the exhaust mounting rubbers snapped as we were fitting the exhaust back on which was a pain in the arse. The rip tie fix lasted all of about 5 minutes on the way home so it was hanging... Continue Reading →
ABS Sorted
Wheels are off the GTI. The whole thing is up on axle stands whilst I investigate why the ABS warning light is on. I unplugged the looms and used a multimeter to check the resistance from each of the sensors in turn at the socket. Of course it was the last one that I tested,... Continue Reading →
Progress
Some photos of the progress being made at Ghost Developments have been uploaded to Flickr. I'm expecting to pick it up one day next week...
Moored Up
Gratuitous photo of the Rallye (briefly) back on the road. The Rallye is pretty much ready to go off to Ghost Developments this weekend. I topped up the oil and took it out for a spin tonight and the difference in the car is phenomenal - in the current setup it's about 100kgs lighter than... Continue Reading →
Progress
Not much to report on the Rallye side of things. I've zinc primed the footwells and the interior roof panel where they'd been scratched through to the bare steel. Looking at the wiring loom again today there are two wire's that I've missed in the big cull going to the back of the car and... Continue Reading →
At Last
Finally picked up a head lining for the GTI on Saturday and after cleaning it and working out a way to mount it without the standard clips, it's in. Nice to have a finished interior at last! I started work on the paintwork today. I'm not sure I've seen a flatter paint job for a... Continue Reading →
Prep Work
Nearly finished the prep work in the scuttle it's all primed now, just needs a top coat and some lacquer. Also painted up the wiper mechanism. It's comprehensively galvanised and has stood up to a lot of use so far, but it was covered in overspray and I thought it'd just look neater to paint... Continue Reading →
Mail Order
Went to the local Engineers suppliers this morning only to find them closed. They always used to be open on a Saturday morning before noon, but it seems not any more. In the end I ordered everything I needed from Namrick who offer a really good mail order service for fastners. I've had to order... Continue Reading →
Electrical Gubbins
Single wiper motor wired in (the AX has the same plug as the 106 so it literally just plugs in) and test fitted. Just need to touch up the paintwork and secure the unit in place. I weighed the bag of wiring cut out so far and the weight saving is now 1.25kg. Not really... Continue Reading →
