After several days of faffing, several weeks of planning and having had some parts for over a month, the washer jets are now being fed from a Peugeot 205 washer bottle mounted in the passenger side rear quarter. I had a complete nightmare with my 205 washer bottle! First of all when I filled it... Continue Reading →
Update
Spent a couple of nights working on the GTI. The end result is a much cleaner car with a working wash/wipe system (replacement water bottle and pump) and a new cambelt. The latter was a much longer job than I'd been anticipating because: I had to go out and buy a 16mm spanner to loosen... Continue Reading →
Weight Loss
Chopped another 10kg out of the interior of the Rallye. Still more to come, but it's going to need that spot weld drill to shed more weight in the form of steel brackets. A few challenges are to come in terms of sorting the plumbing and wiring for the relocated water bottle and fitting the... Continue Reading →
Moving On
Earlier in the week, I had a play with the rivnut gun and have prepared the front doors on the Rallye for the new carbon door cards. I found some yellow rubbery plastic draw handles in B&Q last year so bought a pair for door pull closures. I ordered some titanium and alloy fastners from... Continue Reading →
Update
Big push on things today. Finally finished moving the interior from the Rallye into the GTI. It's taken ages, but has been worth the wait as the car is transformed by having a clean interior and a decent four speaker stereo. A few things needed to finish it off, like the roof lining and a... GTI Update
Finally found time to make some progress on the GTI side of things. The cam covers have been taken off, cleaned up and then sprayed with some high temperature paint. Black HT paint always seems to finish in a graphite matt black. It's a 100% improvement over how they looked before. From this: To this:... Continue Reading →

Update
Having tidied up a host of wiring issues behind the dash of the GTI (it appears to have had two different alarm systems installed in its life in addition to the stock immobiliser), it was time to refit it today. All went well until it came to putting the glove box back in place when... Continue Reading →
Rallye Progress
Both the Sparco Revs were filthy and have been washed and have come up much better. The shoulder and seat sections had faded slightly particularly the sides that had been nearest the windows. Sprayed these withe some matt black acrylic paint and they've come up a treat. Very pleased with the end results.
Update
The Sparco seats are filthy dirty so they're due for some TLC. The covers are removable off the Sparco Evo's, so they're going into the washing machine for a good clean. Alloy OMP side mounts for them are on the shopping list. The flocked steering column surround is back from Raj at Autoflock too. I've... Continue Reading →
Some Progress
Spent almost the whole weekend working on the two cars. Both are now in bits without their respective dashboards, the GTI needed a new section putting in the dash which is now done. It just needs the new head unit wiring in and some general tidying up and securing to cure the mystery rattle from... Continue Reading →
