Fitted
Wheels are shod with Eagle F1s and fitted. I know wheel choice and colour is a very personal thing, but I am really pleased with these. They'll go very nicely with the Bank Holiday weekend surprise that's coming at the end of the month. The metal flake in the powdercoat on the wheels means they... Continue Reading →
Out and About
Yesterday I decided I'd fit the reflocked dash surround. In the process of removing the steering wheel , I gave it a wriggle to loosen it on the splines and as this was happening one of the 6 countersunk bolts holding the steering wheel to the boss sheered. The head of the bolt just pinged... Continue Reading →
Mallory Videos Up
My first track day and it was a really good experience. I think Mallory is a great circuit to learn on because it's short and simple. Only had one minor scare when going into Gerards and I had to hit the brakes a lot harder than expected to let a CRX in that was alongside... Continue Reading →
Rallye in the Park
Off to Mallory Park this weekend for the Practical Performance Car Rally in the Park event. Seems like I'll have the only White S2 on the 106 Rallye Register stand and will be there along with a lot of the rest of the gang. If I'm not on the stand, then there's a good chance... Continue Reading →
GTI Sold
The GTI is gone, but has stayed within the community of the 106 Rallye Register... That's the end of the project then and 14 months of ownership. Time to focus on the Rallye.
Back on the Road
Dropped the oil, removed the oil cooler, filled it up again with Silkolene Pro S. Fitted the new fan and wired it in. Refitted the bumper and it's back on the road. Took it out for a blast today and came home to find out it had thrown the alternator belt. I'll need to fit... Continue Reading →
Pre-Sale Photoshoot
It's taxed and tested and looking for a new home. Took a load of photos of the GTI prior to putting it up on the web for sale. Full set posted up on Flickr...
Bigger Brakes
Marc Boni and Alex Robinson from the Rallye Register organised a group buy on some Hi Specs brakes. Marc's an engineer and has worked hard to develop a brake kit to fit under small wheels. They fit under raptors and 14" rallye steelies as well as some 13" alloys. The Ultralite 4 pot calipers, custom... Continue Reading →
Update
A combination of the weather, a busy time of the year and a long 6 weeks since the last payday with not much free cash has meant progress had pretty much stopped over recent weeks. That said I have made some progress on the GTI project, which will be up for sale soon. Still a... Continue Reading →
MOT Time
Finally did get around to taking the GTI in for the MOT. One or two advisories to look at but at last getting there with it!
