Getting Ready To Go

In the box of bits that came with the car was this Sadev gearbox mount. Nice find as it allows me to try and get the mounting spot on. Well kind of, all the reference points to work out where the original gearbox mount were are long gone. Measurements were needed and with thanks to... Continue Reading →

Engine Mock Ups

Managed to scavenge a couple of hours in the week. Primed the chassis rail leg and then put in the inner wheel arch top. It's not worth doing the side until I have the engine mount positioned as it give access. Starting the tub... A small repair was needed to the chassis rail: Possibly damage... Continue Reading →

Sadev Part 1

Made some headway over the last week. Lots of measuring and measuring again and then chopping. Where the hell did two and a half hours go this afternoon... Bit more progress than the photo above suggests but not much as there was a lot of thinking about engine positioning. Particularly how to work out how... Continue Reading →

The Other Side

In the last 3 weeks I've been busier than a one-legged man in an arse-kicking contest, but in the last two nights have managed some progress, so here's a quick update. Passenger side wheel arch side was primed up after I'd finished the bulk of work. It needs a little tidying up still, but it'll... Continue Reading →

Chop Chop

Time to start chopping and welding... The original oil catch tank bracket had to go even to test fit the new one. Gone. Headlight fitted to check clearances. First attempt didn't have the curves I wanted so started again. Sometimes cardboard just doesn't cut it and you have to make some mistakes in metal. Better...... Continue Reading →

Trick Bits

So a while ago I bought these from Earls and then sent them off to MC Racing composites in France. Last week I received an email to say my production slot had just been reached and tonight when I came back from Durham these were waiting for me. Custom made carbon catch tank for the... Power Steering ECU Mount

This is my busiest time of the year at work and I am flat out. That coupled with the parentals visiting for an extended weekend trip up North has meant very little progress. I had some 3mm carbon sheet left over from the steering wheel so using a cardboard template made this mounting plate. Then... Continue Reading →

Progressing

Earlier in the week I had to pick up a 36mm socket for the hub nuts as the Sadev shafts are still connected up. That night in the garage I cracked out the breaker bar and the 6ft extension for it and went to take them off... and spun the tyres. There's just not enough... Continue Reading →

K16 PUG: The New Project

It may need some significant attention to get it back to its glory days and the Peugeot 2 litre BTCC touring car engine and Sadev sequential 6 speed box may have been sold, but given it now has all of the body panels in carbon fibre and an engineless weight of 640kg it's a hell... Headway

So the day after I picked up the car I placed an order for a maxi specific oil catch tank. Only to find the firm closed for the summer holidays. The Frenchies are back in work now having had all of August off on holiday so they've been in touch to confirm things. They've agreed... Continue Reading →

Cleaning Up

Harnesses, seats and battery out tonight. Bunged the battery on the charger and looks like it's going to be fine which is good news. Seat rails are significantly offset and are not mounted onto reinforcing plates. Will probably end up redoing these, but will get the OMP seats in and check positions. Wiring is interesting... Under the Skin

The rear of the car runs a Harry Hockly independent setup with coilovers in turrets. It's very trick. As you might imagine, having been driven in wet muddy conditions without any wheel tubs has made things quite messy... So both front and rear needs tubs putting in. A chap on MIG welding forum doing an... Continue Reading →
