Boot

Really busy spell at work, down time with sickness and then a bit of time off and now finally back to the cars. The 8v road car was driven outside and washed today in the lovely weather. I even put tyre shine on! Over recent weeks I have progressed the boot interior from being in... Continue Reading →

Update

Last weekend I pulled the 16v project car out of the garage on it's trolley for the first time in over two years. It was given a good dusting down and a full exterior wash. I've been giving it an interior clean up too and had a few little jobs to do on it, such... Continue Reading →

Fame (sort of)

Earlier this year I penned a magazine article on the 8v car so far. It was published in the latest edition of the Peugeot Sport Club magazine Torque. As one of the guys mentioned it might ad a few for sale points to have it advertised as "Magazine featured". I am quite pleased with it... Continue Reading →

8v Rallye Patching

Made up a repair patch. Cardboard templates, cut from zintec sheet and a bit of fine tuning with aviation sheers and it's ready to tack into place. Didn't get one of the first tack flush so chopped it out and started again. Finished butt welding in the repair then ground down the welds. Cleaned up... Continue Reading →

Mostly Underseal

The mad thing is that it didn't look too bad in the photo in the last post - but once chopped out you begin to realise how structural underseal can become... Yep mostly underseal - not much metal left. The rot was quite isolated, it looked worse than it was because the inner arch was... Continue Reading →

More Rust

After chopping out what appeared to be the bad bit of the bumper mounting bracket and then a bit more... and more... and more, I just decided the whole thing was shot and just drilled it off. I'll get a new one from Mark Yates at 106parts because it'll be too time consuming to fabricate... Continue Reading →

8v Update

Drivers side front wheel arch repairs all done and under new stone chip protection and paint. I also managed to get the majority of the crap off the arch and sill with just a few little bits to do - under the gunk it has the slight patina of stone chips and gravel rash that... Continue Reading →

First Haul Gone

With this lot having been collected today there is no going back. All brakes and suspension now are now sold. I have a day off on Tuesday to drop of some bits and put down a deposit on what's coming next all being well.

One Step Closer

Chopped out the rot, put a 5mm alloy plate in behind the sound deadening to stop setting fire to anything and then tack welded in a repair panel. Fully welded it in, cleaned up the welds, primed and seam sealed just to be sure. One of the other things I've been cleaning up as I... Continue Reading →

8v Saga Continues

So I am just finishing the repair around the access whole as reported previously and I spotted where the stud is mounted at the back of the arch into the cabin... Oh balls, more work.

Change in Direction

The 16v Rallye Project car is being sold and the 8v will be up for sale too once I finish the current repairs after which it in for an MOT. Many of the project car parts have been sold or are in the process of being sold. Funds are being accumulated for the next phase... Continue Reading →

8v Update

When I was bleeding the offside brake calliper I noticed a patch in the front wheel arch that didn't look too wonderful so I scraped off the underseal to find it looking a little rotten underneath. So this weekend finally managed to find time to break out the tools and tidy it up! Chopped it... Continue Reading →
