Way back in 2011 I bought a pair of carbon floor trays from Magnum Motorsport over in St Helens. It was a good chance to meet Andy Knowles and at the time have a look at his C2 R2 Rally Cross car.
Fitting them was a different challenge as the 106 floor plan is not flat and Harry Hockly Motorsport had built in rear wishbone mount reinforcement which further complicated the fitting. The solution was both creating flat floor mounting points (more on those in a future post) and notching the floor trays to clear the reinforcement tubes. It’s only an issue on the drivers side as the passenger side co-driver foot mount doesn’t have that clearance issue.
Making the floor trays complete again involved buying some 40mm diameter carbon tube and then profiling to fit the notch and bonding in with 2-part carbon-specific epoxy from Easy Composites.
That means the interior is now looking like this
