Wishbones Progress

Pressing on with bits. I am currently working on the brake servo, brake servo mounting, gearbox mount and wishbones. Not very exciting stuff but here are some progress pictures on the wishbones. Finished these last night with a coat POR15 Chassis Coat Black. This is a top coat applied over the POR15 rust prevention coating... Continue Reading →

A Little Progress

Spent a few hours today working on things. I degreased the gearbox mounting bracket, brake servo and servo mounting bracket. They were all filthy. Once all the gunk was taken off the parts, one of the brake linkage arms actually turned out to be made of brass. Also cleaned the Wishbones. The wishbones were only... Continue Reading →

Gearbox Done

Gearbox finished tonight and reassembled with all new seals on the driveshafts and input shaft as well as the 5th gear gasket. At the weekend I may flat down some of the black coated sections and apply a new top coat. There are also a couple of spots I missed with the enamel, but in... Continue Reading →

Box Almost There

The gearbox was finally prepped for paint over the weekend: Subsequently the main alloy body received two coats of POR15 Engine Enamel and the steel bits like the clutch arm, gear selectors and 5th gear cover received two coats of POR15 Rust Prevention Paint and a top coat of Chassis Coat Black. This lot should... Continue Reading →

eBay Bargain

I am not a great eBay user, but sometimes I'll be super patient and keep an eye out for a bargain. This came up for less than a third of the RRP and it's like new - having seemingly only been used 2 or 3 times. It came with a load of spare lenses too.... Continue Reading →

Gearbox Progress

The gearbox is looking good after two stages of cleaning. POR15 Marine Clean is the weapon of choice and is fantastic stuff at getting rid of the dirt. I filed off some of the rough casting marks then buzzed the box with my range of wire brush drill attachments. It now needs the nooks and... Continue Reading →

Gearbox Cleanup Begins

Stripped some more stuff out of the 'bay and took the front wings off today and did a few little jobs to tidy up odds and ends. The stuff I'd ordered in the week to start work on the engine bay bodywork didn't arrive in time for the weekend so I'm doing odd jobs. Engine... Continue Reading →

Update

Few nice bits and pieces arrived over the last few days including the first part of some goodies from Streamline Carbon. I'll post some pics up of those at a later date. The race battery is now here and saves 5.5kg over the standard battery - more when the brackets and clamps that go with... Continue Reading →

Engine Out

Engine and box are now out. The engine bay needs a fair bit of tidying up to remove bits and pieces like hoses, gear linkages and lines but the big jobs are now done. I will do some asking around to see if I can find some recommendations for a good powder coater locally and... Continue Reading →

A Little Progress

Dropped the rear beam off the car tonight: Means I can tidy up some of the underfloor area that has been hard to reach. Stripped off all the brake compensator and lines and brackets: The beam is now ready to ship to IMAxle so wil get on the case with that next week. I have... Continue Reading →
