The replacement boot floor cross member has cleaned up pretty well, but the end plates that are welded into the sides of the chassis were pretty bad. After several coats of Jenolite Rust Remover, cleaning back with a wire wheel and reviewing, I’m writing off both sides as too far gone.
Other parts of the cross member similarly treated have come up well with the rust pits being converted or cleaned out.
The panels that were on the cross member ends aren’t the size needed to repair the Rallye. The ones that will be fitted will be different one shorter (the one below) and one longer to be made next.
Other side was equally bad. So that’s off and a replacement will be made up next
