More Repairs

Drilled and cleco pinned the cross member and end plates to get ready for fitting.

Cut and after lots of measuring and aligning, tacked in the off side cross member end plate. The nearside is going to be much more difficult.

The rot on the nearside is pretty remarkable. I have never seen rust jacking like this on a 106. It’s all got to come out so it needs chasing back to clean metal. The badly welded patch in the bottom left of the photo above needed to come out to provide access.

Lot’s of crap in the sill and over plating the rot hasn’t been an effectual repair. Unfortunately it looks like the repairs on the sill were done in exactly the same way which reinforces the need to chop it all out and sort it properly.

All chopped back. From here it is a case of measuring and shaping the cross member end repair panel to go in.
