Last Update for 2023

Prepped the cross member end piece for the near-side and the chassis and tacked that in.

I took the rear seatbelt anchor point brackets off the back of the rear seat hollow. They won’t be needed in the final build and they’re just a rust trap. Just in case I welded covers over the original mounting holes – a spreader plate could always be used on the otherside if needed in future.

Boot floor trimmed for final fitment. I have ordered a joggler so the original chassis remaining section can be lapped to create a nice strong joint.

Tested fitted the two boot floor support struts. Boot floor is midway through rust treatment. Whilst access is easy started to tackle some of the other bits.

Cleaned up the back of the rear seat hollow where the reinforcement plates had been.

Fully welded up the repair panel and added in the additional over plating.

I’ll need to have a think about this side as the sill is going to be replaced and I will need access to do that. Rebuilding the near side inner rear arch will require some consideration to balance structural integrity.

This side will get done first. As soon as the boot floor is in it can be fully repaired back to standard.

That said the two repair panels need some repairs. Familiar story but plenty of reusable component elements that will save some fabrication time.

All the metal treated with several applications of Jenolite Rust Remover and spayed with Zinc 182.

Next job is to get the boot floor cross member finished and welded in.
